What is a Philippine Postal ID?
Philippine postal ID is a government-issued ID which can be a valid proof of our identity and address. It has a three-year validity for Filipinos and foreign residents with Special Retiree’s Resident Visa (SRRV). However, other foreigners in the Philippines may use it for a year only.
Contrary to the paper-based and laminated version of the old postal ID, the upgraded version now has security features and hologram marks.
Unlike with other Philippine government IDs, ANYONE can apply for it. With this, various public services can be availed by any postal ID holders, including Filipinos and foreigners, as long as they have been residing in the country for at least 6 months.
Where can I use my Postal ID?
A postal ID is typically used to show a legitimate proof of identity and address. Generally, you can use this ID for banks and other financial institution for transactions like opening a bank account.
Discounts and freebies. You can also use your new and improved postal ID when buying, dining, or shopping at selected business establishments to avail promos. This is part of the Postal ID Privilege Program to encourage use of this valid ID.
What are the requirements to get postal ID?
Here’s a list of Postal ID Requirements you need to prepare on your application this 2019.
1. Bring Two (2) copies of accomplished application forms. You can download the PID application form here. Make sure to double check every information you write on the form.
2. Provide Proof of Identity. You can submit one in any of the following accepted valid documents:
For married women, you need to bring marriage certificate (original and photocopy) to validate change of name from birth certificate.
If you do not have any valid IDs listed above, you can opt to bring any 2 secondary IDs. Make sure one of them should bear your picture and signature. Here’s a list of valid IDs in the Philippines.
3. Prepare one (1) Proof of Address. Submit any of the following proof of address:
- Utility Bill (cable, electric, internet, landline, telephone, water)
- Barangay Certificate of Residency issued within three (3 months) prior to postal ID application
- Certified True Copy of Lease
- Certified True Copy of Titles
- Certified True Copy of Real Estate Tax Receipt
- Bank Statement, Credit Card Statement
- School Billing Statement
4. Prepare payment. General rule, bring about 1000 php for your postal ID application just in case you need to spend for some snacks while waiting on the queuing line. (Don’t worry may sukli pa yan beh)
How to Apply for Philippine Postal ID 2019
1. Fill out application form. Provide complete information in duplicate copies. Fields with red check marks are required to be filled out. Be sure to write in CAPITAL letters and use Black Ink only.

2. Biometric Data Capture. Submit the requirements and pay the application fee of Php 504 at the nearest ID capture station. In contrast, rush processing come with a fee of Php 650 and is available only in Metro Manila as of the moment. Afterwards, they will take your photograph and fingerprint.

3. Wait for Postal ID Delivery. Wait for the delivery of your postal ID to your mailing address. Delivery would take approximately 10 to 15 working days within Metro Manila, 20 working days in major cities and municipalities, and 4 to 5 weeks in island provinces and remote barangays.

1. When can I receive my ID if I availed rush Postal ID service? Is it available at our post office?
At a fee of Php 650, you can already obtain your postal ID within the same day or the next working day. However, this service is only available at selected post offices and malls.

You can visit any of the above mentioned central post office any day from Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm. Be there from 4pm to 5pm to claim your postal ID.
2. How Can I Check the Status of my Postal ID Application?
You may send a private message in the Postal ID Facebook Page. No worries because they are quite responsive to inquiries. You may also send a text message in the PhilPost numbers found below.
You need to provide the following details on your inquiry:
- Your name
- Capturing Post Office
- Date of Capture
- Official Receipt Number

3. How to Recover Lost or Stolen Postal ID
If you lost your new version of postal ID, all you need to do is follow the application process in this guide and secure the following requirements:
- Two (2) copies duly accomplished application form
- Notarized Affidavit of Loss
For losing old postal ID, affidavit of loss is not needed. Just apply for a new one to get your new premium postal ID.
4. How to Update Address and Married Status
You need to re-apply for a new one in case you moved to a new home or you when you got married (for women). Provide the following requirements to update your postal ID information
1. Change to married name

2. New address
