This is a simplified road map on how you can start online job here in the Philippines. More specifically, this is a guide for those who want to switch from their current office job and move to a home based online job.
Many people dreamed of having a good life for their families: Being able to give kids the things they need and want, be there for them when they are in need, look after them, take care of them, and guide them as they grow old.
Most of the parents are deprived of these awesome things in life because of their tied hours in the office.
Going out early in the morning to not get left by shuttle service and coming back home late due to overtime are two of the major things that consume parents’ precious time for their children.
but not anymore..
If you’re looking for ways how to get out of your current office job and wanting to do home based jobs instead, you’re in the perfect place to learn how to do this right.
Home based type of works are truly heaven sent. You can earn multiple folds compared to your current work while being with your family and loved ones.
With home based online jobs, you can choose the perfect lifestyle that fits you. You can do high paying jobs for couple of hours every week and spend the rest of your time parenting your kids.
You can also do project based jobs where you just need to deliver what the client wants and work on the project in your own schedule. Just make sure to deliver on time and you’re good.
Some people opt to get similar jobs with their current office jobs and some are okay with mediocre-paying jobs just as long as they have that benefit of seeing their kids grow up everyday.
Some people want to travel the world while working and some just wanted to stay inside the four corners of their room. Whatever your reason may be, you just need to hold on to that reason to move from your current job to a job that’s more ideal to you.

but before you switch from office job to online job..
Here are some things you need to consider
There are things you need to consider in order to do a smooth transition from office job to home based job. In this section, I’ll mention 4 things you need to consider for you to do the jump.
1. Money as sole motivation. While it is true that work from home jobs can earn multiple times your income in your office job, don’t fall into trap of having money as sole motivation for your actions.
You might stop along the way after months of not having results in trying to find a home based job. There will be a lot of struggles at first but you need to keep hanging on. Most people stop after months of nothingness but please don’t giveup.
2. Current liabilities. If you want to do a transition from office work to home based works, you need to check your current liabilities. You need to take care of your monthly budget so that it wont hurt you and those people depending on you.
Less liabilities you currently have, the smoother the transition will be. It is because you have more time for learning new things plus it wont hurt much even if you absent in your current work.
However, if you have more liabilities and many people are depending on you, the transition will be a bit rough. That’s just fine, take it as it is, you will still be able to get there anyways.
You cannot simply resign from your current job and apply online hoping to get your first client within the same month. You need to manage the risk so you can get yourself away from the troubles the transition may bring.
3. Laziness. One of the biggest problems if you want to do the transition is laziness. If you’re not motivated enough and you don’t have strong reasons, you will just read and consume articles like this and will take no action.
Most of the people are lazy learning things and so they end up staying with their 8-5 jobs. If you want to level-up your current situation, you really need push yourself. Stop YOLO-ing because it’s just plain non-sense.
4. Too much distractions. There are a lot of opportunities online you can workout. However, if you’re already decided that you really want to do this, you should only focus in this, at least for now.
If you’re thinking that it will be better if you’ll workout many online opportunities at the same time, I’d say a big NO. I’ve been in that kind of situation but it only took me longer time to finish what I wanted to achieve.
Be careful to not have shiny object syndrome, jumping from one opportunity to another opportunity not achieving any significant results. It is always better to focus with one model at first and just expand once you are already established.
Transition from office based job to home based online job
For many things you want to achieve in life, you need to discipline yourself to be able to persist and continue striving for success. In this next section, please promise yourself that you will carefully read and execute every part of this road map.
1. Ask yourself WHY
The very first thing you need in order to get started is to establish strong reasons and strong foundation to have that overflowing motivation for you to push through when facing hard times.
Ask yourself “Why do I need to do this?”, “Why am I doing this?”. Your reasons maybe for your kids, for your parents, for your friends, for yourself, for the future, and etc. You know who you are and YOU know what you want.
Get a piece of clean paper and write all your thoughts down. Visualize, visualize, and visualize. The more specific you can go, the better. It’s like digging the foundation of the building you want to build.
Remember that taller buildings require deeper excavation.
You can write all your reasons down in a random manner at first then after that, rewrite the list based on importance.
Keep this paper and review it in regular manner. You can even make this list as your phone’s wallpaper so you will be reminded always.
If you cannot do this simple but very important step, I won’t be surprised if you fail along the way.
2. Know your budget’s specifics
Many of you will be coming from a situation where you support your family or somebody else. Just like what I mentioned in the last section, you need to take into consideration all of your liabilities.
We’ll be specifically taking into consideration financial liabilities and time here so get a piece of clean paper or get an excel sheet open because you’re going plan how you’ll be working.
Again, the lesser liabilities you have, the smoother things will be. Whether it be fast or slow, the thing is you need to clearly see how much work you can allot everyday and what time of the day you will be learning and working.
Basic financial management:
- First, list down your daily expenses for one month as detailed as possible.
- Remove all unnecessary expenses.
- Compute your overall monthly expenses.
- Follow the budget allocation religiously.
This may take time to finish but you can go back here when you’re done. When you do, I want you to visualize your situation living your life with that bare minimum amount of money. The main goal for now is really just to survive daily expenses.
I don’t know how much money you’re earning right now but one thing I’d like you to realize is that many people can live under PHP 10k monthly budget.
What I can suggest to you is to save all your extra money to your bank account and create your emergency funds. This way, you’ll be able to prepare for the coming month(s) were you will be applying for your online job.
Basic time management:
Similar to managing your finances, you also need to manage your time. If you can eliminate all unnecessary activities that are not inline to your current goal, that will be more efficient and effective. You’ll get to where you want to become much faster.
If you want to rush things, it is up to you. Just make sure to have a break whenever necessary or you might find yourself mentally blocked or have some sort of information overload. Again, schedule your breaks strategically.
However, if your schedule cannot permit extended time for learning, be calm and don’t worry. Just accept that fact that you’re already in your current situation and there’s nothing you can do about it just yet.
You need a lot of patience and discipline in order to get out of your current situation so you can move to a more ideal lifestyle you wanted.
3. Your current skills and the skills you love doing
In this section, you need to decide whether to use your current set of skills or learn something new instead. If you enjoy working using your current skills and you think you can work with it for the next 5 to 10 years of your life, then I suggest to utilize those skills first.
Utilizing your current skills can make you do the transition faster. However, if you insist that you want something else, you just need to ready yourself for a much longer time period.
Similar to the previous sections, get a piece of paper and list down your current set of skills and do the following:
- Go to different popular outsourcing sites.
- Check which skills on your list are the most in-demand.
- Once you’ve done your research, try to review and refine your most in-demand skill(s) to have an edge in that field.
- Create your resume and portfolio, take exams related to your skills, create profiles in many different outsourcing sites and in different social media networks especially Facebook and LinkedIn.
- Learn how to brand yourself to get more clients.
- Once you think you’re ready, you can now start applying online through third party outsourcing sites.
- Fail and move on. (It’s always part of the process)
- Assess how and why you fail and learn from that
- Repeat 6-9 until you succeed.
One of the most important things you need to grasp is to learn how to become emotionally stable whatever happens. You need to accept the fact that failure is really a big part of the process and you just need to let it pass.
You need to push yourself to continue moving forward by drawing motivation from your most important reasons why you are doing it.

Things you need to keep in mind
I don’t believe with the word “difficult”. Whenever people ask me “Is it difficult?”, I always ask them to define “what difficult is” and most of the time they don’t have any answer, they just end up thinking.
There’s no such thing as “difficult” in my vocabulary. I believe that in everything you do, it’s just a matter of time and will. Some goals take longer time to achieve and some shorter.
Try to think of this..
Try to watch kids. When they play, they don’t seem to get tired running all day playing with their friends. Guess what? It’s because they’re having fun!
If you love what you’re doing, you’ll never have to work a day in your life because you are just having fun! You can last all day long if you love the things you’re working on.
Here’s another one..
Lifting heavy equipment and doing construction are examples of jobs that requires intensive physical work, right? Try to imagine yourself working these kind of jobs then suddenly your special someone came in. I bet you’ll get energized right?
Do you realize that?
You need to have these kinds of things for you to not just simply move forward but move forward happy, contented, and with less stress. If you know how to leverage these kind of “energy sources”, you can be a superman, if you know what I mean.
When you are courting a nice girl an hour seems like a second. When you sit on a red-hot cinder a second seems like an hour. That’s relativity. – Albert Einstein
There’s no reason for you to complain. After all, complaining will only draw you back from getting your success. You need to stop blaming others and take full responsibility of all the things that is happening around you.
