What does investing mean to you? What comes into your head when you hear the word investing? Maybe you’re seeing an image in your head where you are putting your money in mutual funds, insurance, high-yield investments, and stock market. All those nose-bleeding fancy words and numbers, right?
There even those people who are really scared of the word “investing” because of the “investing scams” they’ve been hearing and watching on the news. Some people feel that investing is too complicated topic to talk about that they don’t even want to discuss about it. It has been implanted in our minds that investing is risky and therefore we should not involve ourselves to such activities.
Some people invest heavily in health supplements for better health and longer life. There are a lot of new food supplements that popping out like mushrooms everywhere in the world wide web and the number is still increasing. Some people invest in beauty products to make them look healthier and younger.
All of these things are legitimate concerns regarding investing but..
Have you ever ask yourself what could be the best and most important investment a person can make in his lifetime?
The most important and number one rule is “Invest In Yourself”.
Yes, you’ve read it right. Because if you don’t, who else will?
Most Important Rule: Investing In Yourself
Your parent’s duty to invest in your education is only until you leave college. But here’s the thing. What you will acquire in school is only the bare necessities and not the important lessons about life and financial education.
Many of the professor will tell you that you need good grades in order to become successful, rich, wealthy, whatever you call it! but they themselves are not rich. Frankly speaking, they really cannot teach you how to make money and be rich. They can only talk about the theoretical side of things.
You cannot teach what do not know
This is just true and this is also why there are bunch of stories of successful people who gave up their schools for the love of their craft. Most of the colleges only teach you skills that are required for you to be able to work for other people.

You just need to realize this..
That YOU and only you have to be proactive enough to take the responsibility of continuously investing in yourself.
Do not let your education enter the retardation stage after college. This is what happen to most people. They stop reading and learning and therefore they stop growing. They only grow their bellies sideways from too much eating. LOL.
Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school.
– Albert Einstein
Always invest in new skills
Your education should not not stop after college. The real world is trickier and therefore you need to have the skills in order to survive. Always explore new things as it can help you discover new fields of interests and opportunities in life.
They say that you will only use around 10% (or less) of your acquired knowledge from the universities to your corporate job. I’ve personally experienced this and find this thing to be true. The real scenario is still to train first before diving in to the real thing.
We need to grow and we need to keep our knowledge up-to-date.
I have something for you to realize if you resist to keep on investing in your knowledge and skills. Back in the days where the old ones are the ones who teach the young ones. Older people are respected for their acquired knowledge. But those are the days where there’s no computer and internet, no available resources compared to what we have now. With today’s technology, most of the grandparents have no clue on what their grandsons and daughters are doing.
With the help of today’s technology it is possible for young people to exceed the knowledge and skills of the older ones. We cannot tell what future may bring. Implanted skills on pregnancy maybe? we cannot tell.
Always read, practice, and ask. It’s worth way more than wasting time on telenovelas and non sensible television programs.
Invest in your health
For you to do more of the important things, you need to have a good health. Always maintain to be fit by constant proper diet and exercise. Being healthy is also a way to insure your other investments in life. You maybe running business but you’re lying sick in bed. What good is your business for?
You need to be healthy in order to give more to your loved ones. It always pay to live a healthy lifestyle and is a lot cheaper!
Healthy means less expenses for the medicine and hospitalization. It means having more time to play with your kids, better mental health, longer life, and many more.
Invest in people with same goal as you
You are the Average of the 5 People You Spend the Most Time With.
We need to carefully choose those people whom we are hanging with. They can either make you or break you. The best thing to practice is to be with those people who have same goals as you. This will increase the chance of having a positive result on anything you do in life. Habits of lazy people around you with no dreams can be contagious so better be careful. Bad habits can spread like virus LOL.
Investing in people simply means befriending them, treat them as your teammates, help them when they are in need. These people are the ones who understands you. These people share the similar sentiments as you. Give value to them as much as possible and in time, these people will return back the favor to you. Give and take, right? It is important to resonate with people with the same frequency as yours.
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you
Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners
These quotes can be found even in the scriptures so you really need to take this into consideration..
They say knowledge is power..
But knowledge without action is pointless right? Knowledge will only have its power if it is put into action else it’s just an unused energy.
Before investing in other things, you need to invest in yourself and you have to take actions. 🙂
